tamura vs kakihara 5/10/91

 I had a version of this where i did a minute breakdown of each sequence that i erased before starting this. the way I'd succinctly put this match is young guns going for it which is true but i think there's something more here strategically. it turns into Kakihara being outmatched on the mat not in the sense that he lacks competency in general but that that he is going up against a budding genius in groundwork in the form of a young compatriot Tamura even as both men do force each other to escape via rope break. at the first strike exchange it seems like Kakihara might have the edge on the feet and over the course of the match Kakihara and Tamura both get knockdowns on each other but as the match gets into the later stages there is a distinct feeling that Tamura has enough competence from to get the win whereas the rushing from Kakihara into close range fizzles out across time as damage accumulates with the match ending in a straight leg lock from Tamura on Kakihara.

love this match always have to be honest always have. if lucharesu as a modern style is my anchor that kind of relights my joy after an off period which this last year was for me and i'm back in the fandom i think. four stars more to be added soon

 It's odd how at least for my fandoms 2025 feels like a dark mirror of 2016-17 or maybe oddly darker given how dark the first administration already was. First administration... Jaguar Yokota vs La galactica 2/27/85 wwwa title match and disk 7 retrospective

 we start off this bout with a sneak attack by Galactica which responds to with appropriate ferocity. Jaguar wins the strike exchanges and eventually gets Galactica to ringside via an over-the-top back body drop. this back body drop ends up being a mistake because by going to ringside Jaguar opens herself up to shenanigans. Big thing strategically is this the first impact on the arm early in this match and as Jaguar prepares herself to reenter the ring we see her shaking her arm out. Interestingly Galactica is seemingly of two minds cause she vacillates a little between working the arm as a means to gain a foothold and using it as her primary target. the deciding factor is that when given the opportunity Jaguar can still win head to head exchanges at this point there's copious use of nunchucks alongside two instances of smashing the shoulder into the ringpost and attacking the shoulder while the arm is wrapped around the top rope causing it to bleed. Crush gals vs Jaguar Yokota and Yukari Omori Tag league the best 1985

 Thios is a surprisingly fun match given the things they have to work around. Of note Jaguar Yokota comes into the match with taped up feet. The thing I love about how Jaguar approaches this is she doesn't stick to counters she's very forward oriented in terms of staying on the offensive by targeting the legs of both crush girls. The key moment comes when the crush girls do actually start attacking Jaguar's leg eventually leading to her being out of the action for the remainder. This leads to a really compelling finishing stretch of Omori desperately trying to the one knockout attack that can finish the crush girls before the attrition of being in a handicap match takes its toll.
