Lioness Asuka vs Jumbo Hori Japan Cup

 Easily my favorite Asuka performance on the set up to this point. She comes in with a banged knee and Hori comes in still having her back taped up. There's a bit of jokeying via some tentative strikes leading into an irish whip by Asuka leading into a strike to the gut. Hori sets a marker by getting a sharpshooter on Asuka. After this she establishes a two-vector attack on the head and leg of Asuka with maybe the most effective achilles lock outside of shootstyle and a figure four. the highlights of Hori's focus on the head is a powerbomb and driving asuka from the top turnbuckle down to the mat face first. Asuka gets surprisingly little purchase in the body of the match itself it ends up being a case of Hori having strategically dominated the match but the question lingering of whether or not she has the singular big bomb to end things which it turns out she doesn't have as Asuka gets the pin with a sick high kick followed up by a piledriver. Asuka only goes after the back once in this match that being in a sequence at ringside after Hori smashes her knee with the tiny hammer used to ring the bell which rules. Another banger 9/10

 It's odd how at least for my fandoms 2025 feels like a dark mirror of 2016-17 or maybe oddly darker given how dark the first administration already was. First administration... Jaguar Yokota vs La galactica 2/27/85 wwwa title match and disk 7 retrospective

 we start off this bout with a sneak attack by Galactica which responds to with appropriate ferocity. Jaguar wins the strike exchanges and eventually gets Galactica to ringside via an over-the-top back body drop. this back body drop ends up being a mistake because by going to ringside Jaguar opens herself up to shenanigans. Big thing strategically is this the first impact on the arm early in this match and as Jaguar prepares herself to reenter the ring we see her shaking her arm out. Interestingly Galactica is seemingly of two minds cause she vacillates a little between working the arm as a means to gain a foothold and using it as her primary target. the deciding factor is that when given the opportunity Jaguar can still win head to head exchanges at this point there's copious use of nunchucks alongside two instances of smashing the shoulder into the ringpost and attacking the shoulder while the arm is wrapped around the top rope causing it to bleed. Crush gals vs Jaguar Yokota and Yukari Omori Tag league the best 1985

 Thios is a surprisingly fun match given the things they have to work around. Of note Jaguar Yokota comes into the match with taped up feet. The thing I love about how Jaguar approaches this is she doesn't stick to counters she's very forward oriented in terms of staying on the offensive by targeting the legs of both crush girls. The key moment comes when the crush girls do actually start attacking Jaguar's leg eventually leading to her being out of the action for the remainder. This leads to a really compelling finishing stretch of Omori desperately trying to the one knockout attack that can finish the crush girls before the attrition of being in a handicap match takes its toll. She fails and it;s a great spectacle. 8/10. Small thing Love that Chigusa retains the buzzcut
